In 2008, the per capita disposable income of the urban residents was 22,481 yuan, up by 11.7 %; the real growth was 6.2% after deducting price factor;and per capita net income of rural residents was 11,538 yuan, a growth of 13.5%; the real growth was 7.9% after deducting price factor. The per capita living expenditure for consumption of urban residents was 14,346 yuan, up by 15.9%; the per capita living expenses of rural residents reached 7,811 yuan, up by 13.3 percent over the previous year. Engel coefficient (Engel coefficient refers to the proportion of residents’ food expenses of the living expenses) of the urban and rural residents was 36.1% and 37.0% respectively. By the end of 2008, the per capita living space of urban and rural dwellers had reached 33.95 square meters; and that for rural residents, 67.45 square meters, up by 4.2% and 1.9% respectively than those over the previous year.
