At present，there have been 1 agricultural science and technology park zone, 6 hi-tech characterized industry bases, 2 scientific incubators and 1 productivity promotion center of national level; there have been 2 major scientific and technological innovation platforms, 58 hi-tech research and development centers and 9 scientific and technological innovation service centers of provincial level; and there have been 101 hi-tech enterprises of national level. In 2008, Jiaxing was listed as one of the cities selected for the project to protect intellectual property rights. Such famous institutes and universities as Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University set up new carriers for scientific and technological innovation. By the end of 2008, 57 new carriers had been introduced.

In 2008, the total output value of hi-tech industrial enterprises above designated size reached 62.176 billion yuan, a rise by 27.9%, with the growth rate being 11.6 % higher than that of total output value. Among all the enterprises above designated size, the proportion of the total output value of hi-tech industrial industries rose from 14.7% to 16.2%.
